Professor Peter Phibbs (Chair)

Peter Phibbs is a geographer, planner and social economist with extensive experience in program evaluation, financial analysis and cost benefit analysis. He has over twenty years’ experience undertaking housing research.  

Professor Thomas Auer

Thomas is partner and managing director of Transsolar, an engineering firm with offices in Stuttgart, Munich, Paris and New York. He has collaborated with world known architecture firms on numerous international design projects. He is a specialist in energy efficiency, user comfort and sustainable urban design. Thomas has developed concepts for buildings around the world noted for their innovative strategies – an integral part of signature architecture. Thomas taught at Yale University and was a visiting professor at the ESA in Paris, Ryerson in Toronto and other Universities. Since 2014 he is full Professor at the Technical University of Munich. 

Tim Horton

Tim Horton is Commissioner of the Land and Environment Court. He is a Sydney-based architect and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects. He has an enduring interest in built environment policy, professional standards and regulation and held public-facing roles devising policy in SA, NSW and nationally. As Registrar of the NSW Architects Registration Board (2014-2018), he led public programs and introduced nationally leading models for digital transformation in architect-client conflict.  He was honoured in 2015 by the Australian Design Centre’s ‘Australian Design Honours’ and named as an Ambassador for Good Design Australia in 2020.  

Graeme Stewart

Graeme Stewart is a registered architect and planner and is a Principal at ERA Architects. He has extensive experience in urban design, cultural planning, conservation and architecture projects, focusing on neighbourhood design and regional sustainability. Graeme was a key initiator of the Tower Renewal Partnership – an initiative in low-carbon retrofit and community reinvestment, for which he was awarded the Jane Jacobs Prize  in 2014. Graeme is a founding director of the Centre for Urban Growth and Renewal (CUG+R), an interdisciplinary research organization for more equitable and resilient urban regions. He regularly lectures in Universities in Ontario and abroad. 

Melinda Dewsnap

Melinda is Manager of Sustainability Programs at the City of Sydney. She is an experienced sustainability leader and manager with strong strategic focus and ability to drive high performing teams. She takes a collaborative approach in the co-design of data-driven sustainability programs coupled with advocacy campaigns to achieve uplift in environmental performance in the built environment. She is passionate about leveraging city leadership to drive national and global action to address the climate emergency and create an inclusive sustainable future. 

David Morris

David ‘s banking experience spans five decades. He began his career at the Continental Illinois National Bank in 1975. He was a founding member of Westpac’s Global Capital Markets group in Sydney, Head of Financial Control and Treasury for the Asia Pacific Division and Financial Controller at BNP Paribas before founding a Strata Management business in 2001. He was a president of the Institute of Strata Title Management (now Strata Community Association) and Chairman of the Board of AMP Bank as well as numerous other committees.  David is a specialist in strategic and tactical lending and risk management. 

Derek Nix

Derek Nix has over 40 years experience in the construction and property industry and was Managing Director of Nix Anderson and Executive Director of Colliers International, overseeing the delivery of $4B worth of projects including major hospitals and large-scale redevelopments. Derek’s working ethos is based and close collaboration with teams and clients in realising opportunities and controlling risks.  

Karen Stiles

Karen joined the Owners Corporation Network (OCN) as Executive Officer in 2012. Her experience on Strata Committees began with her first apartment in 1984, and includes overseeing a large Home Owners Warranty claim and a major fire safety upgrade.  Her extensive voluntary and paid membership of regulatory and independent bodies has involved interaction with a broad range of people from Ministers, Directors-General and Vice-Chancellors through to community groups, scientists, teachers and staff on an advocacy, educational and guest speaker basis.
